if i had to choose a brand new car from 2013 to drive forever, this one would be it: a tor red Challenger SRT8. (i would go for the Challenger SRT10 if it was allowed, but was just a teaser test car

) of all the cars i see today, this car retains more of it's classic predecessor than any other car i know of (except for the morgan aero, which still has a chassis made of WOOD.) and is very raw in terms of driving, which i like.
of course, it needs some adjustments to live up to it's title. increasing the bore and stroke will help plenty, along with larger cams and a more efficient supercharging system. (maybe some transmission work to help it handle the power and transfer more power to the road) then you need to work with the weight. aluminum front hood, fenders, doors, and roof will help cut weight off the front and mid areas of the car, and lighter racing seats will help shed even more weight. larger brakes sourced from the Viper will suffice for stopping power, wider tires will help grip better, and then a set of black 18' ROTA P45R rims, a 2 inch drop, and a *modest* spoiler for aesthetics (and black rearview mirrors to highlight the red).
the finished car, in my opinion, should have maybe a touch over 600 horsepower, weigh between 3,800-3900 lbs, making it perfectly capable of handling the Camaro ZL1 in a straight line, with more availible power and less weight, and shine past the more brutal Shelby GT500 SS in the corners. this car will split the difference between Chevy and Ford, making the big three shine like it did in 1970 when the first challenger came out into the sunlight.
i met a few challenger owners who were complaining about grip in first gear at a nearby dragstrip, and i jumped in about an drivetrain swap from an AWD charger. they liked it, even though there were some technicalities, such as 1) it might not fit with the 6.1L hemi, 2) the charger's AWD system likes to act up, and 3) the end result would weigh as much as a GMC sonoma.
what's your opinion on it?
